The Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP) is set
to Call off its strike action on Tuesday 9th June 2015 at a scheduled
press conference pending the payment of the balance of its union members
at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital.
According to an unamed source, The NUAHP NEC members resolved that
since the strike was a means of calling the attention of the Govt to an
impending situation for action, and the attention of the Govt is already
drawn to it,hence the strike had achieved one of its aim.
It was also noted that the FMOH had set up a committee and a template
designed to fast track the implementation of the circulars with
extension of invitation to other JOHESU leaders to join NUAHP for an all
inclusive meeting on the 16th of June 2015 at the FMOH Abuja.
Since
the Mohamadu Buhari/Osinbajo Govt has just been inaugurated, the union
has agreed to give them a space of three months to address all the
impending issues with issuance of circulars and implementation starting
from the day the strike is suspended.
Therefore the NAC agreed that the strike should be suspended on Tuesday
9th June 2015 at a press conference if the balance of the salary of UNTH
members had been restored. As it stands, the strike is still on until
other wise communicated.
The NAC also would pay a solidarity visit to the FMC Owerri branch to encourage them at this trying period.
